Heritage Days

Rummage Sale Heritage Days is a favorite BCC event, held every year on the second Saturday in August at the Church and Library grounds in mid-town Bondurant. The event features a community-wide rummage sale, BCC Benefit Raffle, crafters booths, bake sale and cookout, and Book Sale.

2022 Heritage Days 2022 is scheduled for August 13 from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.

Drop off your treasures at the Church the preceding Wednesday through Friday, from 9:00 to 1:00 p.m. ONLY, and Saturday from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm. Please, NO ELECTRONICS; NO LARGE TVS, EXERCISE EQUIPMENT, APPLICANCES, OR HEAVY FURNITURE!!! Your generosity is appreciated; however, at the end of the day volunteers must lift, carry, and dispose of these items personally.

Beginnings...

Heritage Days began many years ago as a humble community rummage sale. August is traditionally a good time to clean out the house before winter sets it! The event was perceived as a day-long social event - a celebration, a way to share unwanted treasures with one's lucky neighbors. Soon the event evolved to include a Bake Sale. Then artists joined in, and lunch was served...

The modern Heritage Days

Lunch with Friends Heritage Days has become a significant and greatly anticipated event. These days, people come from far and wide for the celebration, which features...

Plan your day

The fun begins at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning.

Coffee with Hazel We recommend that visitors head straight inside the Church for hot coffee and a cheery "Good morning!". Then let Edna, Mary Ruth and Toni temp you with freshly baked treats (below).

Thus fortified you can browse the booths and tables to your heart's content.

Get your raffle tickets, and while you're there check out the Bondurant Cookbook and the Library's book sale.

Stay for lunch...

At 1:00 pm, just after lunch, prices are slashed! All regular Rummage Sale items (excluding Silent Auction and other special event items) sell for $1 per bag.

Bake Sale At 2:00 pm, the raffle winners are announced.

And after the drawing (2:00 pm), cleanup begins.

After the event, items left over are donated to organizations that can benefit. Remember, we all need help to clean up and pack up.

Volunteer to help by calling Alice Jacobsen, or just show up when you have some time to share.

Give yourself a break! Come spend a day in Bondurant.

How it comes together

Rummage items appear at the church as if by magic! Our hard-working Heritage Days chairperson has been known to say, "We are delighted with the donations! But what we really need are workers, before, during and after!"

The church building is open and staffed to accept donations during the week previous to the event: Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. People are thrilled to drop off their cherished items, and many stay to help. Volunteers sort and price the items on Friday.
